Now that we have finished filming and editing, it is time to think about
evaluating our product.
1. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or
challenge forms and
conventions of
real media
products?
This question is asking how my product uses similar and different techniques to real
media products. I can do this by using a voice over over the final product, to
point out some forms and conventions that are similar to other opening
sequences that I have watched and different features. I will comment on things that all appear in most crime thriller opening sequences such as location, lighting, pace, music, shots and angles.
2. How does your media product represent particular
social groups?
This question is asking how we have represented the characters in our
product in a particular social group, which is similar to real life situations. I will comment on audiences expectations and stereotypes and the social groups we chose for our opening sequence. For this I could have screen shots of how we have represented each of the two
characters in our product, showing shots, location etc. and analyse the shots on an A3 piece of paper and upload a picture of this.
3. What kind of
media institution might
distribute your
media product and
why?
For this question, I will think about the different types of media institutions
such as cinemas, the type of cinema (large ones or small local ones) , online, TV channels such as bbc or itv, or a production company. To do this I will need to think about the audience I think would want to watch my product. I will need to think about the location, whether it will be distributed in small towns, or cities. These media institutions may distribute my product by making adverts and posters. I will also comment on why the media institution I decide on would publicise my product.
I could do this by making a collage of institutions and record myself talking about which one is suitable and why or create a website.
4. Who is the
audience for your media product?
For this question, I will gather some adults together to watch my product
and also gather people my age to watch my product and ask them who they think the audience would be for my product, and ask them why they think the audience they say is suitable.
5. How did you
attract/address your
audience?
For this, I will look at similar genres and their audiences and then create
a poster to advertise the production to the specific audience. I could then
create and advertising poster for the product, and write about it, about how it would attract the audience and about aspects on a poster.
6. What have you learnt about
technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
This question is asking about what I have learnt about using technologies. and how they have helped me product my final production. For this I will create a PowerPoint to write about a range of technologies I
have used.
7. Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do you feel
you have
learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
This question is asking what I have learnt in the process from the beginning
- the preliminary task, to the full product. For this question, we will do it
as a group video, explaining what we have learnt in the areas we worked on, e.g.
the pre-production, production and post production. I will be talking about post production as this is the area I worked most on with the help and opinions from my group. Although we each took part in every step of the production, inputting our ideas, we had specific areas that we were in charge of.
